BD is a global medical technology company that is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. BD leads in patient and health care worker safety and the technologies that enable medical research and clinical laboratories.
Project Background
For more than 60 years, BD has advanced the science of specimen collection that has helped enable laboratory tests to become the foundation for 70 percent of all medical decisions.
Today, the gold standard in sample collection is the BD Vacutainer® product family, which most leading hospitals rely upon to enhance sample quality and protect their nurses, phlebotomists and other caregivers from costly accidental needlestick injuries.
BD salespersons need to introduce the Vacutainer product, sample collection standard and analysis method to medical workers. In order to provide a better service experience, this project is the design and develop of a new iPad APP, which is used by the salespersons of BD and medical workers.
Quick Understanding Of The Related Area
The function and content of this APP involves a lot of medical technology knowledge, therefore, understanding and learning this knowledge is the biggest difficulty of the project. We communicated with the BD’s personnel and read many related materials, then mastered the professional knowledge in a short time.
Make The Abstract And Dull Content To Be Intuitionistic And Interesting
Previously, BD salespersons use printed materials to demonstrate the products and knowledge to medical workers. But the printed materials can’t show the complete procedure in an intuitionistic and interactive way. For this APP design, our first priority is to introduce the standard procedure of sample collection and sample analysis method in a simple, clear, efficient, and interesting way.
We design a game-like form of path, the various steps during the procedure are designed as stations on the path. Applying the gamification approach makes the APP more fun and engaging, which could motivate the users to learn and benefit their memory of the content.
Click the “+”button on each station, there is a pop-up window to show detailed requirement, which is very intuitionistic and clear.
Break Old Pattern, Make A Difference
When designing this Arterial Blood Gas calculator, we want to jump out of the traditional digital calculator design patterns, to explore new possibilities. After a variety of attempts, we eventually adopt the form of BD arterial blood sampler on the calculator, which is innovative and engaging, and also strengthens BD’s brand image, make it very impressive to the users.
In this project, we make innovation of the service in medical technology industry with design thinking and user experience design methods.
It brings new vitality and fun to this serious industry. The customer is highly satisfied with our work and starts a long-term collaboration with TCG. We are looking forward to create more innovative products and services for the medical technology industry.
